The Eastern Cape Department of Education’s women in the Amatole and Bufallo City Education districts will converge at the Southernwood Park, behind Forbes Phamacy in East London, Wednesday August 22nd, 2018 from 08:30 am as they will be marching to the City Hall to raise awareness on the issues affecting women including gender based violence in the sector.

After the march, there will be a session to empower these women marchers about legislation promoting and protecting women’s rights.

Lastly, later in the afternoon, the marchers will also have a dialogue meant to create a platform for exchange of ideas on matters affecting women in the sector. Particular focus will be on Gender Based Violence, Ukuthwala, which is affecting learners mostly, and issues affecting women leaders in the department.

There will be various women leaders and activists invited for the day who will also share their experiences in how they have fought to eliminate gender stereotypes in the process of raising children.
